My Specialties

Thank you for your interest in my services! Unfortunately, I am not currently taking on new clients. My blog, which I will continue to update, has lots of tips and resources you can review. You can also contact me with any questions or if you’re interested in a referral.

My favorite genres are fantasy and romance, and my favorite age categories are young adult and new adult. If your story is queer in any way, I’m probably going to fall in love with it! Beyond that, I am qualified (and happy!) to work with:

  • Middle Grade: any genre except horror
  • Young Adult: any genre except horror
  • New Adult: any genre except horror
  • Adult: romance, fantasy, or contemporary novels

A Bit of Light Reading

Proofreading
The “lightest” form of review, a round of proofreading fixes grammatical errors and typos and makes sure word usage is consistent throughout your manuscript. I will return your document with tracked changes and, if applicable, formatted for submission. Price: $4–7 per 1,000 words

Copyediting
Copyediting digs a bit deeper than just proofreading. A round of copyediting checks for everything proofreading does, but it also “fact-checks” your story: What day is it? Is that the same color drapes you said they were 200 pages ago? Where on Earth are your character’s hands?! I will return your document with tracked changes and, if applicable, formatted for submission. I will also send you a style guide for your manuscript. Price: $7–10 per 1,000 words

Reader’s Report
Ever wondered what your book looks like to a third party? A reader’s report is a one-page response that editorial assistants at publishing houses usually write after reading a manuscript submitted for consideration. It’s generally a quick paragraph summary, a paragraph on what works, a paragraph on what would need work, and a paragraph on whether the reader would recommend acquiring the book. Send me your manuscript, and I’ll send you a reader’s report back! Price: $5 per 1,000 words

Sensitivity Overview
Do you have characters in your story who belong to a community that you do not? Often, authors will employ a sensitivity reader to make sure they are doing those characters (and communities!) justice. In an overview, I will read your entire manuscript and provide a one-page(ish) report to let you know how I (a member of the Jewish, queer, and neurodivergent communities) perceive your character(s). Price: $5–7 per 1,000 words

A Deeper Look

Sensitivity Reading
Do you have characters in your book who are queer, Jewish, or neurodivergent? That’s amazing! Representation is so important, but doing it correctly when you don’t belong to a particular community can be difficult. I will read your entire manuscript and return it with comments about specific moments, descriptions, or phrasing regarding the character(s) in said communities. (Please contact me to discuss identities more specifically.) Price: $8–10 per 1,000 words

Developmental/Structural Edit
Have your idea and your characters in mind but want some help fleshing it all out? Are you at your first or second draft and still need a keen eye to check over your overarching themes, plot, character development, etc.? Can you see (or not) there’s a hole in your plot or worldbuilding but need fresh eyes to find them or talk them out with? Then this is the right level for you! Price: $12–15 per 1,000 words or $25 per hour of phone consultation

Full Manuscript Edit
You’re a few drafts in and feel like your manuscript is in a good place, but you’ve yet to have a second/professional set of eyes on it. Also known as line editing, this level will give you line-by-line tracked changes with particular attention to consistency and clarity for all aspects of your manuscript. Price: $18–21 per 1,000 words

Ready for Take-Off

Query Letter Edit
This is often the first introduction an agent will get to your novel, and you’ve been staring at it for a week straight, turning it into word soup in your own brain. I will come in with fresh eyes and help you see what works, what doesn’t, and what just needs a little tweaking. Copyediting included. Price: $25 flat rate per query letter

First 50 Pages Edit
Many agents will ask for your first five chapters or first 10–50 pages as part of your submission package. If you feel like your query letter and synopsis are set, but you want to make sure your first 50 pages stand strong on their own, I’ll provide fresh eyes and a full review! Price: $75 flat rate

Synopsis Edit
I’ve yet to meet a single author who likes them. I get it! It’s hard to summarize your own work—that is your child and everything is important! Tragically, that’s not how the agents see it. So, if you have a synopsis in any stage of a draft, I will help you pare it down, flesh it out, help it flow, whatever you need. Copyediting included. Price: $25 flat rate per synopsis + $1 per 1,000 words if you’d like me to read your full manuscript for context

Full Submission Package
All three of the above in one neat package to make sure all of your bases are covered. Price: $100 flat rate + $1 per 1,000 words if you’d like me to read your full manuscript for context

Manuscript Formatting
When a publisher or an agent requests your manuscript, there are certain formatting elements they are expecting. As such, a good time to format is when you begin querying. If formatting is not your thing, or you’d like a professional to take it off your hands, send me your document and I’ll return it to you in the appropriate format. Price: $15 flat rate
